With friends like these, who needs enemies? In a growing trend, couples are sending notifications to their friends letting them know they’re NOT invited to the wedding! While guest-list-trimming is a common budget-cutting measure, many people find these “not-invitations” rude, unnecessary, hurtful and even narcissistic. And any awkwardness couples hope to avoid by telling a friend in advance of their uninvited status is sure to be outweighed by how uncomfortable it’ll be the next time they see each other. Another guest-list-management tactic is dividing the list into tiers, or keeping a waiting list for second-string guests who’ll take the spot of anyone who RSVPs “no.” While I get the reasoning behind this, who wants to attend the wedding of someone who considers them a B-list friend (let alone buy them a gift)?
